Dr. Jean-Pierre Reed is Associate Professor of Sociology, Africana Studies, and Philosophy at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, USA. His scholarship falls within the sociology of revolutions/social movements, social theory, and culture. It explores the significance of popular culture (especially religion), discourse, emotion, and storytelling in (revolutionary) politics. He has published extensively on the religious dimensions of the Nicaraguan revolution. He is author of Sandinista Narratives: Religion, Sandinismo, and Emotions in the Making of the Nicaraguan Insurrection and Revolution (Lexington Books 2020).
